59-Curling

I went to the only Curling Club in the entire state of NJ, but oddly it was 5 miles from my house.  So I got to try throwing a stone, and figure out exactly what is going on on the ice.  iPhone.

58-Snow Glisten

The snow starts to melt and in the setting sun casts a long shadow off the glistening pile on the curb.   Today it was rather lovely watching the snow from the last few days melt off.  Canon 50D, 1/1000th sec @ f/10, ISO 200.

56-Flurry

54-Rainy Night

It was a very very rainy day in New York today.  Walking back to the subway, I held the camera and fired the shutter repeatedly into the street.  This was one of the more interesting photos I caught.  Canon 50D, 1/60th sec @ f/5.6, ISO 1600.

53-Abandoned?

At the corner of 9th and 23rd, there is a bicycle.  It is just slightly messed up, the front wheel is bent and the back tire is resting on the planter behind it, but it is still pretty well secured to that pole.  iPhone.

52-Suspended

Stayed with my friend Cody this weekend, this mobile was hanging in his sun room.  I like the simplicity of it standing against the green wall in the room.  Canon 50D, 1/200th sec @ f/6.3, ISO 800.

This is the Clock in the Grand Concourse at Union Station in Washington, DC.  Time in the United States was standardized in 1885 by William Frederick Allen into the time zones we use today to aide railway operation.  Canon 50D, 1/125th sec @ f/5.0, ISO 2000.

The hardware store in NYC is packed from floor to ceiling with tiny boxes of screws, bolts, nuts, washers etc..... Making it nearly impossible to find anything.  iPhone.

48-Name Sake

New Jersey is home to everything Edison.  Well, not really, but here in my house Thomas graces us with his presence by residing as a finger puppet in our kitchen.  Which is lit by a Tesla invention, with power generated by a Tesla invention, distributed by a Tesla invention.  Wait, who are we honoring here?  Oh right, Edison.  Canon 50D, 1/60th sec @ f/5.6, ISO 1600.

I took the Express train home and tried some time elapse work out the window.  I especially liked the linearity of this photo with the clouds ghosting in the background.  Canon 50D, 1/2sec @ f/3.5, ISO 1600.

46-EMERGENCY

Old style fire alarm in my studio in Manhattan, being lit by the emergency light over the door.   I kind of want to pull the alarm just to hear the bell go off.  I'm sure it sounds better than the piezo buzzers in the newer alarms.  Canon 50D, 1/40th sec @ f/4.5, ISO 1000

44-Winter Glass

Found this group of ice sickles off the side of a building, went to snap off one and the whole bunch came off.   So I did what anyone would do and shoved it in the snow and took a photo.  They are lit by the camera's built in flash.  Canon 50D, 1/60th sec @ f/3.5, ISO 400.

43-Graining

42-King of the Mountain

The machines designed for moving earth make great snow removal tools as well.   However this group just seems to be hanging out on top of this mound of snow.  Captured from the train on my morning commute.  Canon 50D, 1/640th sec @ f/5.6, ISO 400.

39-Victorian Roof

Sun hit this roofline in a neat way this morning as I was standing in the Chase Bank in Times Square.  Canon 50D, 1/1000th sec @ f/5.6, ISO 400.

38-Ink 48

The sun setting over the Ink 48 penthouse view of Midtown Manhattan.  Looking at the site this appears to be a pretty swanky hotel with unobstructed views of midtown from the west, and the Hudson from the east.  Only issue I see is being at 11th and 48th, it's a bit of a hike to the rest of NYC.  Canon 50D, 1/100th sec @ f/5.6, ISO 400.

37-Snow Pine

We finally got more than a dusting of snow in Highland Park, thusly the after effect must me shown.  Although I will admit it's nothing anywhere near what Washington, DC got.  Canon 50D, 1/100th sec @ f/5.6, ISO 800.

36-Paper Lantern

The office area at our 52nd St. Studio space has these hanging pendant lights with paper lanterns over it to diffuse the light.  Canon 50D, 1/160th sec @ f/8, ISO 1000.

35-Station Tunnel

The underpass at Metro Park station.  The underpass is lined with LED fixtures that change color about every 5 seconds.  Canon 50D, 1/60th sec @ f/8, ISO 1000.

34-Steam Breach

Steam pipes under the streets of Manhattan have been providing heating, cooling and power to some 2000 buildings in NYC.  Started in 1882 by Manhattan Steam Co, it is now operated by Con Edison Steam Operations and is the largest commercial steam operation in the world.  Canon 50D, 1/20th sec @ f/3.5, ISO 800.
